This open palm is termed as the Abhay-Mudra ie it indicates the fearlessness.It has a traditional grace so it can symbolically tranquillise the consciousness.In Zen Buddhism such symbols shower the peace-prosperity-progress.It should be used on the back wall ,specifically on west or south wall ;when one sits facing east or north .When used on west wall ,one can use metal foils with blue paints .When on the south wall ,one can use copper foils with golden yellow colours .The lotus with twelve petals symbolise the sky element whereas the five fingers represents the balance of five great elements.The palm with divine symbols on it is a confluence of positive cosmic energies .
If a mirror form of a palm is used for north wall ,it will give a new dimension to the north energy.If used in a good quality wood with crystals and red coral then it will enhance the east energy.Rather it can be used as the cosmic window for the east.
Use of proper colours-metals-gems-wood and symbols in the form of the palm may form a vaastu-yantra for different directions.
