When we face east then the left side faces Northwest -North-Northeast which is the wind-water zone which tranquillises the right brain .Whereas the right side faces the southeast-south-southwest ,which is the fire and earth element.
Left brain hemisphere is more mathematical-logical-scientific and right hemisphere is connected to the creativity and the art .
So when we face east the left logical hemisphere faces and gets the fire energy along with the practical earth effect.
Where as the right hemisphere gets the cosmic energy of the wind and the water elements;which is needed to the creative art forms in the life.
When the breath and the elements are in right sequence then they carry that message to the brain.This cosmic seeding of the message is the root of the right sequence of the brain hemispheres and virtues needed in the life .
This is called as the sequence of the breath-naadi-element-direction and virtues .
